Sponsorships Supporting Our Backyard

Our Partnerships

Each year we get behind a number of conservation, community and rural groups through supporting and fund-raising initiatives that give back to grassroots NZ. Our current sustainability-focused partnership is with the Central North Island Sika Foundation, which focuses on keeping healthy numbers of animals, and tend to the sustainable management of the environment and land that the animals reside upon.

Sika Foundation

Stoney Creek partnered up with the Sika Foundation to increase the knowledge and understanding of the Sika herd for recreational hunters - no matter who you are or what your drive is to hunt. The Sika Foundation's aim is to provide better information, and improving access and opportunities for hunters to have better animal encounter experiences. This is a team effort, and sharing experiences is what we’re all about.

New Zealand Deerstalkers Association

At Stoney Creek, we believe the safe and responsible use of firearms is imperative when hunting which is why we proudly support the New Zealand Deerstalkers’ Association (NZDA) through our sponsorship of their Hunter National Training Scheme (HUNTS).HUNTS trainees learn about hunting in New Zealand’s unique conditions and develop essential bushcraft and shooting skills for use in the outdoors. The course syllabus covers the knowledge and skills necessary to operate safely as a hunter in the outdoors, teaching the ethics of fair chase and principles of managing a sustainable game resource. The HUNTS programme was first launched in 1987 and has since helped thousands of hunters gain the skills needed to hunt big game safely and responsibly in New Zealand.

Suggest an Initiative

Want to suggest an initiative or a project, or get involved in some way? The more people that are involved, the more effect we will have. Anyone has the ability to put a project forward for consideration. If you want to assist or feel like you have something to offer towards any of the three key areas of Conservation, Child & Community Wellbeing, and Rural Mental Health, whether that be a service or a donation, please enquire through the OBT website.

Make a Donation

Our Backyard Trust was registered in 2018. We now have a group of like-minded people that are empowered to govern, by way of a board, the funds that are donated and then distributed into projects that support the three key areas of Conservation, Child & Community Wellbeing, and Rural Mental Health. The great thing is that you can donate anything from a dollar personally, right through to a large sum if you are a commercial business. The best way to do this is to connect through the OBT website: www.ourbackyardtrust.com. You will also see some of the projects and initiatives that we have achieved.
